Welcome to the Cornwall Marine Network. With its unique coastline and strong maritime heritage, Cornwall confers natural advantages to its marine businesses, and our non-profit making company is dedicated to turning these into growth and prosperity.
Cornwall Marine Network was established in 2002. Our key aims designed to support growth and improve profitability include:
- Marketing initiatives which help marine businesses generate more enquiries and orders
- Training initiatives which sustain and improve the sector's skills base
- Networking initiatives which encourage the exchange of best practice between CMN members and other organisations
The Network was initially funded through the European Objective One programme with a total package valued at just over £1 million. Since then CMN has been awarded further funding in the field of training via other organisations including the Learning and Skills Council which has allowed new training products to be launched, including;
- Yacht and Boat Building NVQs
- Short Course Training events
- Introductory and Leadership courses
- Plus much more!
Cornwall has recently been awarded a further round of European funding, named Convergence. This funding will support Cornish initiatives which contribute to converging Cornwall's GDP with other regions in the European Union. Cornwall Marine Network is working closely with partners to ensure that the Network can secure additional funding for further projects. In particular, projects that develop innovation and the knowledge based economy.
The Network is based at the Marine Skills Centre in Falmouth, an award-winning fully renovated grade 2 listed rope works - fitted out with state-of-the-art resources needed for marine skills training.
