Marine Apprentice - Falmouth Harbour Commissioners

The post is a training post but applicants will be expected to already have a level 2 qualification in engineering and an understanding  of marine craft. The post holder will be expected to gain work experience by assisting with a wide range of activities, afloat and ashore, undertaking tasks related to marine operations. Post holders will also undertake a programme of personal training and development in addition to work related tasks. Applicants to be enthusiastic with a can-do attitude and keen to learn. Marine Electrician

Mylor Yacht Harbour are looking to recruit an experienced marine electrician to join their successful team.

The successful applicant will be highly qualified in marine electrics, have a minimum of three years experience in a practical role and have sound knowledge of fault finding, electronics, refitting and replacing engine looms. You will be happy working alone and as part of the existing team, have a good sense of humour and a full clean driving licence.

We offer training via in-house mentoring and a national apprenticeship scheme and are seeking a motivated and committed young person to join our company and progress. 6 month placement

Salary: £16 000 salary pro rata once solo skippering and during refit work. Unpaid for training period (approx 4 weeks depending on experience) St Mawes accommodation available when ashore (free whilst unpaid).

Summer Boatyard Hand - Isles of Scilly

Bennett Boatyard requires two people to work in our busy boatyard on Bryher in the Isles of Scilly.

Tasks include preparing boats for season's use and launching and delivering them around the islands, boat hire demonstrations for small motor and sailing boats and general yard work.


Suits young, energetic people with good people skills. Experience of small motor and sailing boats required.  RYA Powerboat level I and II needed (can be arranged if not already completed).

- Performing Manufacturing Operations
- Fabrication and Welding

...to join our team supporting Cornwall Marine Network's award winning skills model supporting training within the workplace.

The role will involve visiting learners in the workplace and assessing/tutoring them in their NVQ qualifications and ensuring the successful outcome of the NVQ in line with awarding body requirements, supporting learners with the course content and assessment, liaising with the course manager and internal verifier to ensure that all the learners needs are met.

The successful candidates will hold the A1/A2 Assessor Award (or equivalent), with experience in delivering NVQs, be highly organised, excellent communication skills are essential to support and motivate NVQ Level 2 & 3 candidates. 

Must be a car owner/driver and flexible to travel.

We are also interested to hear from experienced assessors in; Marine Engineering, Performing Manufacturing Operations, Fabrication and Welding, and Performing Engineering Operations.
