Cornwall Marine Network

Max Campbell, Oceanography graduate seeking employment in marine renewables

Undoubtedly, Cornwall is a global player in the endeavor to extract commercially feasible ocean energy. I am enthusiastically following the exciting, innovative and state-of-the-art developments taking place on my doorstep, and it's a challenge I desperately want to involve myself in.

Last year, I graduated from the University of Southampton with a first class honors in BSc Oceanography. My dissertation focused on the Pentland Firth, Scotland, using underwater acoustics to measure turbulence for the benefit of the MeyGen project.

The previous summer, I worked with Falmouth's Mojo Maritime as an intern, gaining experience with both wave and tidal energy devices.

After finished university, I sailed singlehanded and unassisted from Falmouth to the Caribean in my wooden, 22 ft yacht, Flying Cloud. Throughout the journey, I overcame countless obstacles and developed a robust problem-solving ability.

I hold an STCW95, and have experience on a range of research vessels using the conventional, oceanographic and hydrographic equipment. I am also reasonably confident at Matlab and ArcGIS.

I live in Falmouth, and I'm looking for an opportunity to apply my knowledge of the ocean in a full-time position, please find my attached CV.
