Kick-start your chances of finding employment this year at a free jobseekers workshop.

A new line-up of jobseekers workshops has been scheduled for the New Year to support Cornwall's 9,600 unemployed people find work.

Cornwall Marine Network (CMN), in collaboration with the Job Centres, have already successfully run a series of these free workshops completed by nearly 50 people during 2011 in Falmouth and Hayle; and are now extending this provision to St Austell and Newquay in order to meet demand.

Jobseekers workshops are three-day courses that provide advice on how to clinch a job through successful interview techniques, job searches, completing application forms and writing effective cover letters. The specialist CMN tutors aim to boost the confidence of jobseekers when approaching employers, to give one-to-one feedback on CV's and to help attendees achieve nationally-approved qualifications in Workskills and Literacy. They will also finish the course with a USB memory stick containing their revised CV, covering letters and an electronic handbook containing useful hints and tips and sample documents.

The training team at CMN are also dedicated to assisting jobseekers post-workshops in order to help them achieve long-term employment.

This is based on extremely positive feedback from course attendees and the successful partnership between CMN and the Job Centres".
