CMN Specialist Training Workshops

Cornwall Marine Network members have benefited from two Chartered Institute of Marketing workshops that will help boost their prosperity.

Some 30 members, ranging from watersports centres to marine hydraulics companies, attended the Introduction to Public Relations and Competitive Tendering training days.

CIM lecturer Kerry Savage delivered an insightful PR course explaining the nuts and bolts of working with the media and how to draw up and implement a publicity strategy. At the second workshop, members took away valuable advice from CIM lecturer Tracy Pearce on how to win competitive bids through systematic planning and effective presentation techniques.

The workshops were held separately at Cornwall Marine Networks (CMN) new offices at Falmouth Business Park. The members all enjoyed their day of learning and the opportunity to network with other marine sector businesses over a buffet lunch.

The events were organised by CMN, which is a not-for-profit membership organisation working with Cornwall’s vibrant marine industry. They were free to CMN members, funded by the Convergence ERDF scheme via Business Link's Knowledge Transfer Programme.

CMN Marketing Executive Georgia White said: "This was a great opportunity for our members as most businesses would have to pay a lot of money and travel out of county for similar events. The workshops were very well received and the attendees left armed with lots of useful information that they can now put into practice. We look forward to creating further training opportunities for our members in the future."
